An Advocate representing a man in a marital dispute appears to have attacked his client's expropriated wife in public in a courtroom in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh.
The accused is 58-year-old Bhagwan Singh. He was registered by the police. The video went viral on social media. The video shows an elderly lawyer running after a woman and punching her in the back in court. When Bhagwan Singh beat the woman, no one came to her rescue and remained a silent spectator.
It is reported that the woman is seeking alimony from her husband. Lawyer Bhagwan Singh represents her husband in the case.
A video of the incident, which was posted on social media on Friday, shows people standing nearby when a lawyer beat a woman. The child was lying on the ground crying.
According to the information, the issue of alimony from the husband of the woman Bharti Patel (26), father of Dashrath Patel, a resident of the village of Dada, is under consideration in ADJ Court Beohari. The attacker, Bhagwan Singh, 52, is a lawyer on behalf of her husband. The injured woman came to court with the child to hear the case. The woman said a few insulting words to the lawyer, because of which he beat her. (Advocate beats wife video)
Police filed the first information report against Singh under sections 355 (assault), 323 (voluntary injury), 294 (obscenity or words) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code, police officer Ravindra Prakash, Kaul Said. Rakesh Singh Baghel, president of the district bar association, said the incident has not been reported before.
