The Seoni municipal council’s beautification work in Dalsagar wetland, Madhya Pradesh, was challenged in NGT. The recent ruling ordered the removal of all construction done there.

मध्य प्रदेश के सिवनी जिले की आद्रभूमि दलसागर तालाब में नगर निगम प्रशासन ने सौंदर्यीकरण के नाम पर कुछ निर्माण कार्य किये। बाद में यह मामला NGT पहुंचा। इस मामले पर हालिया फैसले में अब तक हुए निर्माण कार्य को हटाने का फैसला आया है।

A survey done between April and July in 2023, observed only 32 Sarus Cranes at the site– a decline from 50 in 2022 and 76 in the previous year.

भारत में वर्तमान में 82 रामसर साइट है। इन स्थलों के साथ भारत भारत मेक्सिको और यू.के. के बाद दुनिया भर में तीसरे स्थान पर आता है। आज से 10 वर्ष पहले भारत में मात्र 26 रामसर साइट हुआ करतीं थीं, जो इस दौर में बढ़ कर 82 हो गई हैं।

Sirpur wetlands, like other Ramsar sites, are wetlands of ‘international importance’. But, these tags don’t change the conservation approach. There are other examples of negligence in the conservation of the Ramsar site(s) by the authorities.

Constructed wetlands (CW) are emerging as affordable technologies for the treatment of wastewater in a decentralised framework. Constructed wetlands can be used to treat secondary or tertiary wastewater.
