Villagers in Mandla and Dindori districts oppose the Basaniya Dam, fearing displacement and loss of livelihood. Despite laws requiring Gram Sabha consent, surveys began without approval. Protests halted survey teams; tribal rights remain ignored.

Bargi Dam has submerged approx. 26,797 hectares across three districts, displacing 7,000 families, 43% from the tribal community. These farmers now face a water crisis, alleging that the government is prioritising power projects over them.

The Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project will drastically change the river's flow, affecting fishing, farming, and the lives of downstream communities. Concerns include erosion, fish movement, and reduced access to natural resources like driftwood.
