Russian missile attacks have destroyed cities, towns and villages across Ukraine. These before and after images show some of the destruction in civilian areas since the Russian invasion last week.

While Russian forces are at some distance from the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, there have been several deadly airstrikes on the city. The apartment block below was hit by a Russian missile in the early hours of last Saturday.

The images that are arriving from cities like Kharkov, where the Ukrainian government has denounced the impact of missiles against civilian targets, compared with photos from just a few days ago that were reflected by Google Maps cameras shows to what extent war can transform a town.

The Russian attack is the largest ground war in Europe since World War II. The pictures below are the heart-wrenching realities of many parts of the country that tell the story of the invasion.

Here are some photos before and after the war:

Serei Orlof, deputy mayor of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol, has said that talks on a ceasefire continued throughout the night on Friday.

He said, “After the ceasefire agreement, we started our process and started the work of evacuating people from the war-torn areas. We have arranged 50 buses and I think five to six thousand people can board the buses and leave Japorizhia.
