Arvind Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of playing politics for the suffering of Kashmiri pundits and said that all revenues earned from the film "The Kashmir Files" should be spent on community rehabilitation.

“Since the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley, the BJP has been in power for 13 years.

However, not a single family of the displaced was rehabilitated in these years.

The Central Government is allowing (the film production company) to mint money on the agony of the community”, he told the media here.

“The BJP is making politics on the issue. We demand that the movie 'The Kashmir Files' be uploaded on YouTube so that the whole country can understand the plight of the Kashmir Pandits. The money that is earned should be spent on the welfare of the Kashmiri pundits,” he said during the post-budget press conference.

“We demand that the film be available on YouTube so that it can reach millions of people at no cost. Also, the income of more than Rs 200 crore earned by the film so far should be spent on the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits,” he added.

“This is a crime. The country will not tolerate this,” the Kejriwal said.

The film, which premiered on March 11, has sparked a debate between political parties. Several BJP-ruled states including Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have exempted the film from the entertainment tax. (Kejriwal Jhoothi Film)
