Community-scale batteries, ranging from 100 to 5000 kW, store surplus solar power for later use, helping stabilize the grid and reduce costs. Their role in microgrids supports renewable energy expansion, especially in remote areas.

Only 30 countries have energy storage targets, totaling 284 GW by 2030. This leaves a 1,216 GW gap from the 1,500 GW global goal needed to stabilize grids and support renewable energy growth.

देश भर में सोलर सिटी का तमगा पाए सांची शहर ग्रीन एनर्जी की राह में पहले चरण में ही अटका है। वहीं खजुराहो और अक्षय ग्राम को लेकर कोई प्रगति  देखने को नहीं मिली है। दूसरी ओर राज्य सरकार मांडू, ओंकारेश्वर, और इंदौर जैसे शहरों को भी सोलर सिटी बनाने जा रही है।

"I have lived here for more than 30 years, but in recent years after this solar power plant, we have been feeling boiling hot at this time of year (the last week of February 2023). Imagine what will happen in the coming months." 

The Government of India approved the Viability Gap Funding Scheme on 6 September 2023 to accelerate the construction of such battery energy storage systems.
