The central government told the Rajya Sabha that it has not set ethanol blending targets for individual states. Instead, a national target of 20% ethanol blending in petrol will apply from the Ethanol Supply Year 2025–26.

The Government of India brought an ethanol policy in 2018. According to this, the central government has set a target of blending up to 20 percent ethanol in petrol by 2025.
