Covid-19, which originated in Wuhan city of China, has once again come on the verge of shutting down the same city Shanghai. The Chinese government has imposed a strict lockdown in the city, started multiple rounds of mass testing and constricted people to their homes. Know the whole news:

China's metropolitan city Shanghai with around 25 million population, is again in a condition to shut down all the things. The city is forced to extend the lockdown to April 26, as it reported 11 more deaths on Thursday. 2,119 locally transmitted confirmed cases out of which 1,931 were solely reported by Shanghai on Thursday, data by National Health Commission.

With the spurt in cases, City has compiled 17,629 new cases in the previous 24 hours. Although it gives relief that it is a 4.7 percent decrease from the day before. City's increased cases since March 1 to 4,43,500. Active cases in the country stood at 30,813 out of which 251 people are in a critical condition, the report said.

Shanghai Lockdown

Authorities have tightened their belts again and started various campaigns like epidemiological investigations, cleaning and disinfection, traditional Chinese medicine intervention and so on. To control the movements and gatherings of the people tiered community program will also be carried out.

Communal testing will be on high priority, conducted throughout the city depending on the risk of infection in each area. China is also preparing on a war footing to fight Covid19 because it has to fulfil the objective of its "zero covid policy".

Covid19 update in India

According to the Union Health Ministry Data, the country has reported 2,451 new covid cases with the total Covid-19 cases being rose to 4,30,52,425. Active cases in the country spiked to 14,241 and the death toll jumped to 5,22,116 with 54 new fatalities. The recovery rate reached 98.75 percent with 1,589 discharged from the hospital.

Delhi has recorded the highest among all with 965 new cases in a day with a positivity rate of around 4.71 percent, and the demise of one more person to the virus.

Following the Centre's advice and seeing the sudden rise in the number of cases, some UTs and states like Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh made masks compulsory for the people and in offices and crowded areas. Delhi Disaster Management Authority has even imposed a penalty of ₹500 for not wearing a mask.

The centre or state has not yet planned for any lockdown in the country or state. For the time being, the country is strictly adhering to test, track, treat, vaccination strategy and covid appropriate behaviour to escape from lockdown.
