A heartbreaking incident occurred in Dumka, Jharkhand. A 14-year-old tribal girl was raped and brutally murdered in Dumka and her body was hung from a tree. The accused Armaan Ansari has been arrested.
Tribal girl raped
The girl's mother alleged that her daughter was raped, killed and hung from a tree in an area below the Mufassil police station on Friday.
According to reports, the girl lived with her aunt in Dumka, where she entered into a relationship with Ansari. She was pregnant, they added. When she asked Ansari to marry her, he killed her, the sources said.
Police are awaiting her autopsy report to determine if she was first killed and hung from a tree to stage suicide. “The accused, identified as Arman Ansari, has been arrested. He works as a construction worker,” Police Superintendent Ambar Lakra said.
He was charged under sections 376 (rape), and 302 (murder) of the IPC and the provisions of the SC/ST Act and the POCSO Act, Lakra said.
Jharkhand CM expressed anguish
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his anguish over the incident.
“I am deeply saddened by the incident in Dumka. The accused has been arrested. I have directed the Dumka Police to take strict legal steps to ensure justice (for the victim’s family). May God gives peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear this critical time,” Soren tweeted.
Babulal Marandi, former Chief Minister of the state and leader of opposition in the current assembly, The former chief minister tweeted: “Who are you saving? Have shame! Whatever you and your police hide, we will get her justice.” Attacking Soren, BJP national vice president and another former chief minister Raghubar Das in a Twitter post said, “Pay attention in Jharkhand when you get time from resort politics.”
In another tweet In Babulal Marandi shared the Aadhaar Card of girl and wrote: "According to the information received, this santhal tribal girl was just 14 years old, a victim of Armaan's jihadi desires. The possibility of this matter being linked to the international network of love jihad also cannot be ruled out."
