Ground Report | New Delhi: Top 10 countries with the highest suicide rate; Every year there are about 703,000 suicides in the world, in addition to the people who try to do it, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to the World Health Organization, every 40 seconds a person commits suicide somewhere in the world. While most of the countries with high suicide rates are poor, there are also a few surprisingly wealthy and highly developed nations that rank very high in these sad statistics. In general, committing suicide is about three times more common in men than in women. being poisoning, hanging and firearms the most common methods. Among people between the ages of 15 and 29, suicide is the fourth leading cause of death, only behind traffic accidents, tuberculosis, and interpersonal violence. The study also specifies that the rates vary between countries and regions and also between men and women.

- 9. Russia - 25.1
- 10. South Africa - 23.5
Suicide rates in the WHO African (11.2 per 100,000), European (10.5 per 100,000) and South-East Asia (10.2 per 100,000) Regions were higher than the global average (9, 0 per 100,000) in 2019. The lowest suicide rate was recorded in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (6.4 per 100,000).
