Temperature changes across India have led to noticeable alterations in weather conditions, with some regions experiencing rising temperatures while others deviate from the norm.
The recent data from the Meteorological Department indicates that maximum temperatures in several states were recorded to be two to three degrees Celsius below normal. However, specific areas such as Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Northeast India, and parts of the southern peninsula maintained temperatures within the normal range.
The persistence of hot and humid weather is particularly evident in Kerala, Mahe, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, with no immediate signs of relief over the next three days. Similarly, Northwest India and Gujarat are anticipated to experience a gradual increase in maximum temperatures by two to four degrees Celsius over the next three to four days.
Conversely, Middle East India is expected to witness a temporary drop in maximum temperatures by two to three degrees Celsius over the next two days, followed by a stabilization of temperatures thereafter. Eastern India, on the contrary, is likely to observe a decrease in maximum temperatures by two to four degrees Celsius after a couple of days.
The Meteorological Department's forecast also highlights anticipated precipitation patterns across various regions. For instance, light rain and snowfall are predicted in the northern states of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on March 18 due to a fresh weak western disturbance. Similarly, from March 20 to 23, light rain is expected in parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, complemented by snowfall in higher altitudes.
Looking ahead, coastal areas of Ganga in West Bengal are likely to experience light to moderate rain coupled with stormy winds from March 18 to 21, with a potential hailstorm on March 19. Concurrently, states like Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Marathwada may experience rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms during specific periods in the coming days.
Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected in Odisha on March 19 and 20, along with various parts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand on March 19, with anticipated rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain with lightning is forecasted in Northeastern states from March 18 to 23, as well as parts of Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Marathwada during March 18 to 21.
Recent weather events on March 17 saw regions like South Interior Karnataka, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha experiencing rain or thundershowers. Notably, Bidar in South Interior Karnataka recorded 2 cm rainfall during the mentioned period, indicating localized variations in precipitation levels across different parts of the country.
