Ground Report | New Delhi: Karnataka Hijab Controversy stories; In Mandya, Karnataka, a group dressed in saffron robes chases a girl while shouting furious slogans against a student wearing a hijab, in return the only girl facing the crowd herself. You might have seen this video. This girl says that she got the support of her classmates and the principal of the college.
Meanwhile, in Udupi, another city in Karnataka, a college administration ordered all students to vacate the campus soon, due to violent protests by saffron-clad people against hijab-wearing girls.
This is a picture of two schools in Karnataka in this split of two factions, these two incidents showed the face of two different sides of two schools in the state and decided to close the colleges for three days.

Muskan, a second-year B.Com student at PES College in Mandya, faced a crowd shouting slogans against her which made her the face of self-defense.
Talking to Indian Express, she said that in her college she is allowed to wear a burqa and hijab in class. She said, "My college administration and principal never stopped me from wearing a burqa. Some outsiders are coming and pressurizing us, who are these people stopping us? Why should we listen to them?
Talking about the day of the incident seen in the video, Muskan says, “I was going to submit assignments, even before entering my college some Muslim girl students were harassed for wearing hijab, she was crying. Coming here to study, my college allows me to wear these clothes. Only 10% of the students in the crowd were from my college, rest were outsiders. The way they were behaving bothered me and I replied "
In the video, the college principal and other staff are seen trying to control the situation. Muskaan said, "When I reached my class my principal stood next to me and said 'I have let you come wearing a burqa and you don't need to worry about others.' We can wear burqa till we reach class in college and hijab is also allowed in class. Till now nobody had any problem in college, two days ago outsiders started all this.
On the other hand, at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College in Udupi, a group of boys and girls wearing saffron gamchas were walking around the college campus, wearing hijabs, raising slogans for girl students.
Sana Kausar, 21, a first-year M.Sc Computer Science student, said, "At around 9.30, I was standing outside the office with some lecturers. By then a large group of boys had gathered in the field, which was a crowd of people. After distributing saffron turban and pate-gamcha, they started shouting religious slogans. After the tense situation, our teachers asked us to leave."
"As more and more students were gathering for the lab class, seeing the situation deteriorating, the college administration closed the gate. Girls wearing hijab were allowed to leave for the lab, seeing that the saffron-clad group raised slogans.
When the students were asked to leave the college, a group of girl students in hijab reached near the college gate, where some boys wearing saffron gamchas entered the college by climbing the college wall and shouting slogans, in return the girls wore hijabs. Slogans of "We want justice" were raised.
The matter was resolved till around 2 pm, after which the college's principal Devdas S Naik said that the college would remain closed till further notice.
