India vs Pakistan

Preparations are in full swing ahead of the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 2023 on Oct 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium. More than 11,000 security personnel including Gujarat Police, and home guards among others are set to deploy amid reports of an attack on the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner Gyanendra Singh Malik while addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad mentioned that 7,000 police personnel and nearly 4,000 home guards will maintain the security at the venue. He said, "Along with more than 7,000 police personnel, we will deploy nearly 4,000 home guards to secure the stadium and to maintain law and order in communally sensitive areas of the city during the match. In addition to these personnel, we will deploy three 'hit teams' and one anti-drone team of the NSG. Nine teams of our bomb detection and disposal squad will also be utilised."

Earlier in view of the India and Pakistan clash, A detailed meeting was held in Gandhinagar to analyse and review the police's action plan. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, state DGP Vikas Sahay, GS Malik and other senior police officers were present in the meeting.

Mumbai Police received a threatening email

As per a report of Indian Express, an unidentified person sent an email to Mumbai Police reportedly threatening to harm the PM and blow up the stadium in Ahmedabad. The sender further demanded Rs 500 crore and the release of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi from jail. However, Gujarat Police said that there is no reason to fear. Whatever mail or threat, Ahmedabad Police is competent, and adequate preparation has been made for the match.

It's noteworthy that India-Pakistan relations are not normal. This has impacted the cricketing relations of both countries as well. Neither India nor Pakistan have played bi-lateral series since 2012 when Men in Green visited India for 3 T20I and 2 One-Day matches for the last time. Meanwhile, both teams face each other only in ICC tournaments.

Head to Head

Talking about head-to-head in the ODI World Cup history, India has never lost to Pakistan in all 7 matches played so far. This time again, Rohit Sharma and Company have all eyes on maintaining its winning streak against Pak in the World Cup while Babar Azam-led Pakistani Team will be looking to end the drought of wins against their arch-rivals.
