Has Zainab Abbas, Pakistan`s Cricket Presenter, been deported from India

Zainab Abbas, a popular Pakistani cricket presenter has allegedly left the host country. She was in India to cover the 2023 Cricket World Cup. While social media has been rife with rumors of her deportation from India, the truth appears to be markedly different.

According to social media users, Cricket Presenter Abbas has been deported from India because of his past social media tweets, including one in 2014. In that tweet she said New Delhi smelled like “cow piss”.

Lawyer Vineet Jindal on the basis of an official complaint against Abbas to Delhi Police urged to remove her from the list of presenters in the World Cup for making derogatory remarks for Hindu faith and beliefs. Further, he claims that the Pakistani presenter has been deported from India.

ICC denied the reports

In the meantime, the International Cricket Council (ICC) refuted allegations that Pakistani sports presenter, Zainab Abbas, was deported from India. According to an ICC spokesperson, Abbas voluntarily left India due to a personal matter.

ICC spokesperson C. Rajshekhar Rao said to Arab News, "She has left for a personal reason and was not deported."

Arrived in India on Oct 2nd

Abbas announced his arrival in India on Oct 2 with a tweet citing that she was here to represent, create content & bring in expertise from the best in the business. She tweeted,

"There was always intrigue on what lies on the other side, more cultural similarities than differences, rivals on the field but camaraderie off the field, the same language & love for art & a country with a billion people, here to represent, to create content & bring in expertise from the best in the business. Humbled to be presenting in India at the Cricket WC2023 for the @ICC again, a journey away from home of 6 weeks starts now."

She was a part of the presenters for the World Cup

It is noteworthy that Zainab Abbas, a renowned Pakistani sports presenter and commentator, was in India fulfilling her role as one of the ICC's enlisted presenters for the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.
