A viral video that allegedly captures two young women in the Delhi Metro is circulating online and drawing significant attention for its controversial content. Although the video has received numerous likes, shares, and retweets, it has sparked irritation among internet users urging the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to intervene against the young women. While many viewers criticize the video as vulgar, others remain indifferent.

Delhi Metro obscene video girl

In the video, we see the girls vibing to the 2013 song 'Ang Laga Re,' which Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone made unforgettable. The girls put Holi colours on each other while steaming up their moves in their own remake version. In the video, some fellow passengers remain seated, not paying much attention, while a few observe the interesting show unravelling before their eyes.

However, since they were shooting these acts in a public place like the Delhi Metro, it sparked outrage on the internet, and many even slut-shamed the girls.

Social media users have widely circulated a video showing two girls sitting on the floor of a metro train, applying Holi colors to each other; this has sparked both attention and criticism. In response to the uproar, the DMRC expressed doubts about the authenticity of the video on Saturday, raising the possibility that it could be a deepfake. Some users on X platform claimed that someone indeed filmed the video inside the metro train, which would breach Delhi Metro's regulations.

Many people consider the video vulgar, while others don't care much. Regardless of the case, people are still actively discussing the video, which was uploaded a few days ago.

One Twitter user who goes by the handle @ThePerilousGirl claims that Preeti Morya, a 22-year-old from Delhi who is apparently 'very famous/infamous' for creating similar content, is the creator of the discussed reel on her social media page.

Who is Preeti Morya

People widely recognize Preeti Morya, a 22-year-old from Delhi, as the creator of the video. She has a reputation for producing similar content across her social media channels. Her impressive popularity reflects her substantial Facebook following of 1.2 million and a significant Instagram audience of 306k. Tweets from a particular account indicate that Morya has a history of filming comparable videos in public places, invoking discomfort among numerous individuals.

Meanwhile, 'Vineeta', the other girl featured in the video boasts 41.6k followers on Instagram. The girls dance to the 2013 song 'Lahun munh lag gaya' in this video, a song famously performed by Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. In their rendition, the girls playfully apply Holi colours on each other while showcasing their dance moves.

Two young girls from Delhi NCR, Preeti and Vineeta, have garnered significant attention online with their social media content, but their fame comes with real-life challenges.

Preeti, originally from Uttarakhand, has focused on creating reels on Instagram and YouTube but hasn't pursued studies or a job. Despite having a combined follower count of 12.90 lakh across her accounts, she struggles financially.

Vineeta, residing in Noida, faced a similar situation, finding it difficult to maintain a job due to her addiction to creating reels. While one of her videos gained 2 lakh views, it didn't translate into sustainable income. Their friend Piyush, based in Delhi, supports them by helping with shooting reels but also faces economic constraints.

Law regarding public obscenity

In India, the laws about public obscenity are outlined in the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Specifically, Section 294 IPC addresses obscene acts or songs performed in public places. To be considered a crime, the obscenity must cause “annoyance to others”. A person convicted under this law can face up to three months imprisonment. Additionally, Section 292 IPC deals with the sale, distribution, and public exhibition of obscene material, making it a punishable offence to sell, rent, distribute, or publicly exhibit any material that is lascivious or appeals to prurient interests.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) released a statement on Twitter, criticizing a video and asking the public to report similar instances. “The authenticity of the shooting of this video inside the metro also seems doubtful prima facie, as someone may have used deep fake technology to create this content,” said the DMRC.

The DMRC also added, “We request that fellow passengers inform us immediately when they see such shoots being conducted.” In light of these laws, such activities, if proven to be authentic and causing annoyance, could potentially lead to legal consequences under the aforementioned sections of the IPC.

The recent revelation that they cannot afford to pay a scooter's challan highlights the disparity between social media fame and financial stability. Both Preeti and Vineeta are now reconsidering their content creation strategies, emphasizing the challenges of turning online popularity into tangible earnings. Their story sheds light on the complexities faced by aspiring social media influencers in today's digital age.
