The Agriculture Department of Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh, has issued guidelines on fertilizer management for key Rabi crops, including wheat, gram, mustard, and lentils. Officials stressed the importance of following scientific recommendations for fertilizer use, highlighting the necessity of correct nitrogen, phosphorus, and potash application for each crop.

For mustard crops, farmers should apply 60 kg of nitrogen, 30 kg of phosphorus, and 20 kg of potash per hectare. This equals 2.9 bags (130 kg) of urea, 3.8 bags (188 kg) of single superphosphate, and 33 kg of muriate of potash.

The recommendations for irrigated wheat are 120 kg of nitrogen, 60 kg of phosphorus, and 40 kg of potash per hectare. Farmers should use 5 bags (250 kg) of urea, 7.5 bags (375 kg) of superphosphate, and 1.3 bags (67 kg) of muriate of potash for optimal growth.

For lentil crops, 25 kg of nitrogen and 50 kg of phosphorus per hectare is recommended, while irrigated chickpeas require 20 kg of nitrogen and 60 kg of phosphorus per hectare.

Sugarcane and linseed have specific fertilizer needs. Sugarcane requires 300 kg of nitrogen, 80 kg of phosphorus, and 60 kg of potash per hectare, while linseed needs 80 kg of nitrogen, 40 kg of phosphorus, and 20 kg of potash per hectare.

The Agriculture Department emphasized that using the correct fertilizer quantities and scientific practices, farmers can boost their Rabi season crop yields. Proper fertilizer management is key to leveraging favorable rainfall for increased production.
