Ground Report | New Delhi: Young Officer in Delhi raped; Nearly two weeks later, the brutal murder of a young Muslim civil defense officer in the national capital has not only devastated his family but also angered the apathy of the police and the government.

Young Officer in Delhi raped

A 21-year-old civil defence officer in Delhi Police was kidnapped and allegedly raped on August 26 in Delhi's Sangam Bihar. The matter, which did not get much media attention, took many turns.

A man claiming to be the woman's husband surrendered at the Kalindi Kunj police station, taking responsibility for the gruesome act. The man said that he doubted her character, and therefore murdered her.

A purported video circulating on Twitter showed her mother, father, and cousin pleading for justice in the case. Her cousin Monis Saifi was seen staring clearly at his body and explaining the inaction of the police, meanwhile, his parents broke down as he spoke. "They keep saying they will investigate, but haven't done anything so far," said the cousin. The family has also demanded the transfer of the case to Delhi and a fair CBI probe into the matter.

On Friday, DCP, NIT, Faridabad, Dr. Anshu Singla said, “There is no mention of sexual harassment in the post-mortem report. The body was not mutilated. There have been several injuries on the body due to a sharp object and several stabbings.

The DCP said that the accused would be taken on police remand for questioning. “He had confessed his crime. He had also told the Delhi Police that he had married the victim in a Delhi court. We will look into the allegations (by the family) and investigate.

Family denies marriage

Police said the perpetrator, identified as Nizamuddin, has surrendered and claims to be the husband of the victim, but the family denies this. As reported by Muslim Mirror, the victim's brother said, "There is no proof of marriage, it is a conspiracy to defame her and give a different angle to the matter."

Further, the family alleged the possibility of Lajpat Nagar DM office office-bearers being involved in the murder as the victim was aware of the "corrupt" activities going on on the premises.

The Government says, "Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao, but what is the government doing now? "Beti Padhao, Balaatkaar karao, murder karao?' nobody is listening to us says the victim's mother.

"As long as she was alive, she was my daughter. Now she is the daughter of the country. I want everyone to fight for her justice. I don't want anything like this to happen to anyone's daughter."
