Sadly, home-bound viewers were unable to view the pre-match show on TV, as it was not broadcasted live. This resulted in a disappointing experience for the fans who were eagerly glued to their TV screens in anticipation of this ceremony.

Broadcasters shared the reason behind this

The Star Sports, the broadcaster of the World Cup 2023 in India confirmed today on X stating that The pre-match ceremony was only for the stadium audience. They said,

"The pre-match ceremony for the #INDvPAK game today will not be televised as it is only for the stadium audience. We have you covered for the rest- the match, the highlights & everything in between."

It's crucial to highlight that the BCCI already faced criticism from cricket enthusiasts for its failure to organise the World Cup opening ceremony and its seemingly cordial welcome to neighbouring team Pakistan. Consequently, this reaction incited the #boycottIndoPakMatch trend on the former platform, Twitter. Some reports speculate that the decision to not broadcast the pre-match ceremony can be attributed to potential threats associated with the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
