Who is Tirath Singh Rawat? New Chief Minister of Uttarakhand

BJP MP Tirath Singh Rawat will be the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Trivendra Singh Rawat resigned from the Chief Minister on Tuesday. 

Since then, there was speculation about several names in the BJP. On Wednesday, the BJP leadership stamped the name of Tirath Singh Rawat.

56-year-old Rawat has also been the head of the Uttarakhand BJP. Tirath Singh Rawat is a Lok Sabha MP from Pauri Garhwal.

When Uttarakhand was formed, Tirath Singh Rawat was the first Education Minister of the state. He was then made the state general secretary of Uttarakhand in 2007. Elected MLA in 2012. In 2013, he was given the command of the Uttarakhand BJP.

56-year-old Tirath Singh Rawat is associated with the union. He has been an RSS pracharak and also worked for Akhil Vidyarthi Parishad.

Tirath Singh Rawat was a member of the UP Legislative Council from 1997 to 2002. He was the Education Minister of Uttarakhand between 2000 and 2002. In the year 2012 between 2017, he was the MLA of Uttarakhand. He won the Lok Sabha elections in May 2019.

However Tirath Singh was the state president of Uttarakhand BJP from February 2013 to December 2015 and a former MLA (2012-2017) from Chaubattakhal, currently Tirath Singh Rawat is BJP national secretary as well as MP from Pauri Garhwal Lok Sabha.

In addition to the BJP candidate from Pauri seat, he was also made the election in-charge of Himachal Pradesh in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Tirath Singh Rawat was born on 4 April 1949 Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. While his father's name was Kalam Singh Rawat, his wife's name is Dr. Rashmi Tyagi Rawat.
