What was real age of Hazrat Aisha when she married to Prophet Muhammad?

What was real age of Hazrat Aisha when she married to Prophet Muhammad?

There are different narrations and opinions about how old Aisha (RA) was when she married the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is not possible to give an exact figure. That year was the 10th year of the prophethood being revealed to the Prophet (PBUH). On the social media platform, many seditionists have taken advantage of certain traditions without accepting the fact that these people’s statements on this subject have repeatedly contradicted and confused each other.

Hazrat Aisha age

We intend to examine the unfounded claim that she was not yet of age at the time of her marriage to the Prophet and present facts that will open the eyes of unbelievers, critics and honest seekers.

Aisha in the Bukhari corpus; It was revealed to Prophet Muhammad when I was a little boy in Mecca: “Surely, the Doomsday is their predestination, and the Doomsday is more disastrous and more bitter.” It is unanimously accepted that the Surah Al-Qamar, in which we read these words, was revealed 4 years after the revelation began, that is, in 614. If we accept the false claim that Aisha was born in 614, Aisha’s words above mean she said it either before she was born or when she was just born!

But according to Aisha’s words above, she was a child playing when this Surah was revealed in 614. In contrast, the accurate description of Aisha’s birth date as 606 would have made her 8 years old when she uttered the above words. Coinciding with the words “I was a child playing”.

In Bukhari’s corpus, it is reported that the Prophet Muhammad said: ‘No virgin can be married without her consent. The question here is: How could the Prophet Muhammad say something and do the opposite? This is significant considering that, according to Bukhari’s other hadith, Aisha said that she played with dolls among other girls and said that no one wanted her consent or permission to marry the Prophet! Realistically speaking, how is it possible to ask a child about marriage without understanding the meaning of marriage from the very beginning! Even consent at such an age would not be considered legitimate, as it would be consent without a guardian or adult. (Hazrat Aisha age)

Hz. Aisha was 18 years old, not 9 when she married the Prophet. The narration narrated by Bukhari is only a distorted narration. It violates Allah’s law, common sense, tradition and culture and even other hadiths! It is also contrary to the chronological order of events during his prophetic mission. Therefore, it is unthinkable and unfair to raise the words of Buhari above the integrity of the beloved Messenger!

First Perspective: Ages 18 and over

Many historians, Aisha’s sister Hz. She reports that she is ten years younger than Esma[7]. Two famous history books, Tahdhib-al-Tahdhib and Al-Bidaya wal-Nihaya report that Hazrat Esma died at the age of one hundred in 73 H.[8].

From this point of view, Hazrat Asma’s, Hz. It is understood that the Prophet was 27 or 28 years old at the time of his migration to Medina. This is St. When Aisha was completing her marriage, which took place in H. 2, Hz. It shows Esma as 28 or 29 years old. All these facts, It shows that Aisha must have been 18 or 19 years old when she completed her marriage.

Although this point of view is historically more meaningful than the nine-year narrative, it is still Hz.

Second Perspective: About 14 years old

Another point of view is that Aisha was around the age of 14 when she completed her marriage, which seems to be the most accurate understanding of this subject. There is much evidence from history to suggest this fact with almost certainty. (Hazrat Aisha age)

First evidence: Tabari in his treatise on the history of Islam, Hz. He reports that Abu Bakr had four children and all four of them were born in the pre-Islamic period[9]. Hz. Had Aisha been born before Islam, her age could not have been less than 14 years in H.

Second evidence: According to Ibn Hajar al-Askalani, Hz. Fatima, St. He was five years older than Aisha. Hz. Fatima, Hz. It is reported that the Prophet was born at the age of 35[10]. When he was 52 years old, Hz.

When Ayesha married the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), she was 18 years old, not 9 years old. The narration narrated by Bukhari is only an erroneous one. It violates God’s law, intellect, tradition and culture, and even other hadith! It also contradicts the sequence of events that took place during the prophetic mission. Therefore, it is incomprehensible and unjustifiable to exalt Bukhari’s words with the glory of the beloved Prophet (peace be upon him)!

All the narrators of this hadith are Iraqis who heard it from Hisham. Allama Kandhalvi says that the words that were uttered regarding the age of Hazrat Ayesha were Tissa Ash’ara, meaning 19, when Hisham only heard (or remembered), and Tissa, meaning nine. According to Maulana Usmani, this change was made deliberately and maliciously later.

  • The historian Ibn Ishaq in his Sira Rasoolullah has given a list of those who converted to Islam in the first year of the proclamation of Islam in which the name of Hazrat Ayesha is mentioned as Abu Bakr’s youngest daughter Ayesha. If we accept Hisham’s calculations, she was not even born then.
  • Shortly after the death of Hazrat Khadija, the first wife of the Prophet (SAW), Khula, quoting Hazrat Ayesha (RA), advised the Prophet (SAW) to remarry (Musnad Ahmad). In Arabic, buckwheat is used for an unmarried girl who has reached puberty and is fit for marriage. This word cannot be used for a six-year-old girl. (Hazrat Aisha age)
  • There is a consensus that Hazrat Ayesha was 10 years younger than her elder sister Asma who was about 28 years old at the time of Hijrat or Hijrat Madinah. From this, it can be concluded that Hazrat Ayesha was about 18 years old at the time of migration. She was a 21-year-old woman when she moved to the Prophet’s house. Hisham is the only narrator of this hadith whose authenticity is challenged, as it has nothing to do with many historical facts of the time.

However, the result does not change, and all of these reinforce the belief that he was born before the prophethood, got engaged when she was fourteen or fifteen years old, and married the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) when she was seventeen or eighteen. Information such as the fact that the dates of birth and death in the societies of that day are not as clear as today can be emphasized. In the early and authentic biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him) written by Ibn Ishaq, who died in 150 AH, a list is given of those who converted to Islam in its early days. The list includes 51 men and women but no children.

According to the general context of the biography, which is the best for credibility, they converted to Islam in the first four or five years after the beginning of its message. We find Aisha’s name in them, with the note that she was young at the time.

She was young, of course, but old enough to choose her faith and declare herself a Muslim. If we say that she was only 10 years old at that time, and her conversion to Islam was 5, then she would have been 19 years old when she got married to the Prophet, because he married her one year after the migration to Medina. (Hazrat Aisha age)

Further evidence can be cited to prove that Ayesha was a woman in his time when he married the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). However, this requires more space as it involves sorting out certain events and discussing attitudes and reactions to different events and statements. However, I can say that Ayesha was 18 years old at the time of her marriage if she was one day old, but most likely she was more than 20 years old.
