Weather warning: Thunderstorms and heavy rains sweep across India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the southwest monsoon is expected to move towards more parts of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir in the next two days.

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in isolated locations over Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, parts of Odisha, East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha on June 26.

Today heavy rain is expected in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Ganges coastal areas of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana-Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad. There will also be heavy rain in isolated areas of Gujarat, Marathwada, coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are forecast today in isolated locations over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, East Rajasthan, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Mahe.

Strong thunderstorms with lightning and winds are expected in different parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Ganges coastal areas of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Fishermen have been advised to stay out of the sea due to strong winds and intensifying storm conditions in the West Central Arabian Sea, South West Arabian Sea, East Central Arabian Sea, Gulf of Mannar , the north coast of Andhra Pradesh, the central west of the Bay of Bengal, Kerala. , Karnataka, Maharashtra shores, Lakshadweep, Comorin area, Sri Lanka coast, Odisha-West Bengal shores.

Yesterday, Tikamgarh in eastern Madhya Pradesh recorded a maximum temperature of 43.0°C, above normal.

Chaparmukh in Assam recorded a minimum temperature of 17.6°C, below normal.

Yesterday, there were showers and thunderstorms in Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh , Vidarbha , Saurashtra and Kutch, Subhimalaya West Bengal, Sikkim and Jharkhand.

Also, there was rain or showers in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan and Goa, Karnataka coast, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep , Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh coast, Yanam, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Yesterday, isolated heavy rains were reported in Himachal Pradesh and Odisha.

Isolated thunderstorms also occurred in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and coastal Karnataka.
