A 30-year-old woman in Gurugram alleged that the administrator of an app, where she worked, raped her last year and made nude videos of her. She said he gave her drugged food outside Ambience Mall after she went to meet him for a salary he had been withholding. "He took me to a hotel…and raped me," she alleged.
The woman also accused the manager's associates of harassment, police said. Following the complaint, an FIR has been registered against five accused under sections 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intent) of the IPC and sections 67-A and 72 of IT law at Sadar police station.
"We are checking the facts and conducting raids to catch the defendants," said Inspector Ved Prakash, an officer at the Sadar police station. In the complaint, the woman, who has two daughters, stated that after the confinement caused by Covid, she decided to help her family financially and chose to work from home for the "MICO App", an online live streaming platform and social interaction.
''The app manager, Kunal Singh, hinted at me, but I refused. After this, he also blocked my salary for three months. ''On August 14, he called me at Ambience Mall on the pretext of discussing salary. Outside the mall, he offered me some 'parathas' and soft drinks.
After consuming the soda, I felt dizzy. He took me to a hotel in sector 38 and raped me,'' the woman alleged in the complaint. She also alleged that the man showed her objectionable photos and videos and threatened to make them go viral if she resisted him.
She alleged in the complaint that friends of her manager, Krishna Shukla aka Lutera and her wife Gauri Sharma, who work at the same app, and another friend named Albadi also tried to convince her to do what Singh told her and they threatened her. She claimed her manager also made nude videos of her, police said.
