Tikamgarh Nagar Palika is preparing to expand its city limits by adding 12 nearby villages, including Kundeshwar Dham. This expansion will increase the city’s area six times and bring many government offices within the Nagar Palika boundary.
Currently, Tikamgarh Khas, Tikamgarh Lake, and Tikamgarh Fort cover a total area of 1,733.885 hectares. Out of this, 1,490 hectares fall under the Nagar Palika Tikamgarh. After the proposed delimitation, the total area will grow to 8,978.151 hectares by including the 12 villages.
The plan for delimitation was discussed and approved by all councilors in the Nagar Palika Parishad meeting on March 20. Since then, the Nagar Palika has started working on the proposal.
Nagar Palika CMO Ompal Singh Bhadauria said,
“The council has proposed villages adjoining the city limits that have undergone urban development, meaning where secondary activities start. We have identified these villages, collected necessary data, and will prepare the proposal following all required parameters to send to the collector.”
According to the Dainik Bhaskar, the villages identified for inclusion are Takha, Anantpura, Maharajpura, Manikpura, Ganeshganj Khas, Ganeshganj Bhata, Kundeshwar Dham, Kunwarpura, Dharampura, Dumrau, Mamon, and Madhuvan. Together, these villages cover about 6,673 hectares.
The Nagar Palika will prepare a draft delimitation proposal and send it to the district collector. After that, permission will be sought from the District Panchayat to include these villages. The collector will then forward the proposal to the state government for approval and publication.
Once the proposal is published, people will get one month to submit claims or objections. After addressing these, the proposal will return to the government for final approval. Once all steps are complete, the Nagar Palika’s expansion will be official.
The need for delimitation arises because many important government offices lie outside the current city limits. The municipality office is currently located in Kunwarpura Gram Panchayat. The Joint District Office, Collectorate, and District Court are in Anantpura Gram Panchayat. The RTO office, ITI College, and Home Guard District Commandant’s office are in Mamon Gram Panchayat, where a medical college is also proposed.
Schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Government Model School, and Law College fall in Sunwaha village. The government warehouse is located at Badora Ghat. Because these important offices and institutions lie outside the city limits, people have long demanded expanding the Nagar Palika.
Due to the small current area and dense population, many government offices developed outside the city limits. This has caused business and urban settlement to spread beyond the municipality. To provide proper urban facilities and services, it is necessary to include these adjoining villages within the Nagar Palika limits.
Bhaskar Expert Vidya Prasad Pataria, retired cartographer, explained the process:
“For delimitation, we consider factors like distance between villages and the city, population, area data, nodal centers, Google Maps, and secondary activities in the villages. After preparing the proposal, it is sent to the collector for approval under Section 5(A). The process includes public objections and final government approval before the expansion is official.”
The expansion will also increase the city’s population from about 79,000 to over 100,000, supporting more urban development. New colonies, private hospitals, offices, and showrooms have already started appearing in villages like Mamon, Anantpura, and Kunwarpura, signaling positive growth for the city.
