Madhya Pradesh will see more heavy rain for the next two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for very heavy rainfall in many districts. On Sunday, several areas across the state recorded intense showers, causing waterlogging and disruption in daily life.
Rainfall occurred in more than 25 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, Panna, Jabalpur, and Sagar. Gwalior recorded 3 inches of rain in just 9 hours. Raisen received 4.25 inches, while Bhopal saw 1.25 inches. Narmadapuram recorded 1.5 inches, and Betul had half an inch. Light to moderate rain also fell in Chhindwara, Dewas, Sehore, and other districts.
The IMD has issued an orange alert for Rewa, Katni, and Dindori, predicting very heavy rain of up to 4.5 inches in 24 hours. A yellow alert has been announced for 20 districts, including Gwalior, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Sagar, Raisen, Rajgarh, and Vidisha. Other districts may receive moderate rain.

The IMD has issued alerts for today, June 30.

Meteorologist Arun Sharma explained the cause.
"A trough is currently passing through Madhya Pradesh. Along with that, a cyclonic circulation system is active. These two factors are causing continuous rainfall."
Monsoon Progress
The monsoon reached MP later than expected. It entered the state on June 14, one day behind schedule. In just five days, it covered all 55 districts.
Last year, the monsoon reached MP on June 21. This year, it reached India earlier but stalled over Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh for 15 days.
The IMD has also warned of lightning across the state for the next three days. People have been asked to stay indoors during storms and avoid open fields and tall trees.
"We urge residents to stay alert. Avoid going out unless necessary," said an IMD official in Bhopal.
In many towns, people faced waterlogged streets, traffic jams, and power outages.
In Shajapur, rain continued all day. In Vidisha, strong winds hit before rainfall began. In Bhopal, it rained from morning till night.
