As October begins, Rajasthan is experiencing high daytime temperatures, with Churu recording 40.0°C on Tuesday. Other cities like Bikaner (40.4°C), Ganganagar (39.8°C), and Jaisalmer (39.8°C) also registered near-record highs, while Jaipur hit 38.0°C. Neighboring Haryana is feeling the heat too, with Sirsa at 39.0°C and Hisar at 38.4°C.
Despite the sweltering daytime temperatures, evenings and nights in the region are expected to be pleasant. The rise in heat and humidity has sparked concerns about an incoming wave of ‘October heat,’ which typically brings uncomfortable conditions before winter.

The Meteorological Center in Jaipur predicts dry weather across Rajasthan for the next few days. No rainfall is expected in eastern or western Rajasthan until October 5-6, when some areas in the Bikaner division may see scattered showers. The highest temperature on Tuesday was 40.4°C in Bikaner, while the minimum dropped to 22.5°C at Dabok Airport in Udaipur.
Between October 3 and 7, no significant weather warnings have been issued, with eastern and western Rajasthan expected to see dry conditions. However, there’s a slight chance of rain beginning October 7, offering some relief.
Starting October 7, rainfall is predicted in parts of eastern and western Rajasthan. In eastern Rajasthan, particularly the Jaipur division, light rain is expected on October 7. Meanwhile, the Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions of western Rajasthan could also see light showers. On October 8, rain may extend to other divisions like Ajmer and Udaipur, potentially lowering temperatures and bringing relief from the heat.
By October 8 and 9, the weather is expected to improve, especially in Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions, as scattered rains cool the region.
Jaipur’s weather will be mostly clear for the next two days, with maximum temperatures around 37°C and minimums dropping to 26°C. However, from October 5 to 7, residents may see changes, with partly cloudy skies and a slight temperature dip.
On October 8 and 9, Jaipur is likely to experience cloudy skies and light rain, which could bring a much-needed drop in day and night temperatures compared to earlier in the month.
Other regions in India are facing similar October heat. In Mumbai, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast little to no rain in the coming days, leading to warm and humid weather.
IMD Director-General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra stated that October temperatures across most of the country are likely to remain above normal for both maximum and minimum readings. New Delhi also recorded a maximum temperature of 37.2°C, the highest for October since 2015.
