Pakistani team trolled after the loss vs Afghans; ex-cricketers react!

Babar Azam led Pakistan team had won the first two matches. However, after that, they lost four consecutive matches. Now their dream of going to the semi-finals is almost shattered. Pakistan's fourth defeat was against South Africa on Friday. Pakistan now has three more games to play. After simultaneous defeats, the possibilities of Pakistan qualification for the semis look pretty slim. Let us see, if it is still possible for the Pakistani team to make it to the semifinals?  Here is the answer to this question.

Will have to win all three matches

Pakistan now has 3 more matches to play. They will play against Bangladesh on 31st October. Then, against New Zealand on 4th November, and eventually will face England on 11th November. Pakistan has to win all its matches with a big margin to increase its net run rate. At present Pakistan's net run rate is -0.205. If Pakistan manage to win all three matches then they will end with 10 points. However, the wins will not ensure qualification.

Will have to rely on other teams' result

Pakistan will have to rely on the results of other matches as well. Currently, the Kiwis and Aussies are at No.3 and 4 in the points table with 4 wins (8 points) in 6 matches. Pakistan should hope that New Zealand and Australia lose their next matches. If the Kiwi or Australian team loses at least two more games of the remaining three games, then they will end with 10 points. And, if Pakistan is successful in winning all its three matches then it would have 10 points. This means that all three teams have equal 10 points. Hence, the net run rate will play a big role. In that case, if Pakistan wants to go to the semi-finals, it will have to increase its net run rate. At present the net run rate of the Kiwi team is +1.481. That means they are much ahead of Pakistan (-0.205). At the same time, the team like, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will have to lose at least two of their remaining four matches.

These teams are in the race

In the race for the semi-finals in the World Cup 2023, India, New Zealand and South Africa are almost on the threshold of the top 4. Now if these teams are successful in winning 2 matches from here, then their ticket to the semi-finals can be confirmed. But now Australia and Sri Lanka are seen competing with each other for the 4th spot. Australia was at the last position at the beginning of the tournament. However, the team is gaining some momentum. On the other hand, Sri Lanka has also counterattacked in the tournament. Currently, Sri Lanka is in fifth position in the points table with 2 wins in five matches.

At present, the South African team is at the top in the points table with ten points, with an excellent net run rate of +2.032. After that, the Indian team won all five out of five matches and currently holds the second position with 10 points.
