The England squad has reportedly called up the Kashmiri fast bowler for the ongoing World Cup. According to Kashmir Sports Watch, Kashmiri fast bowler Samiullah Dar travelled with the England cricket team as a net bowler.
Srinagar native, Dar, was spotted training the England Team in Delhi prior to their journey to Mumbai for the match against South Africa scheduled for Oct 21st. Unfortunately, England suffered a hefty loss against South Africa by 229 runs. Their next stop is Bengaluru, where they are set to compete against Sri Lanka on Oct 26th, followed by a game against India in Lucknow on Oct 29th.
Made an appearance in IPL 2023
Although, this is not the first time Kashmiri right-arm fast bowler Samiullah Dar joined any team as a net bowler. Earlier in the IPL 2023, he played a similar role for Kolkata Knight Riders as well. The 25-year-old pacer was the highest wicket-taker in the talent hunt tournament conducted by the J&K Cricket Association last year. However, Dar is still waiting for the opportunity to represent the state team of Jammu and Kashmir.
Being a net bowler of England Camp will enhance the recognition of talented pace bowlers from Jammu and Kashmir. Despite not being associated with the state team currently, it will surely lead to his future inclusion in the Premier League as well as Indian Squad.
In the midst of a poor start to the World Cup, England has suffered a further setback with pacer Reece Topley sidelined due to a finger injury. A fracture in his left index finger rules Topley out of participation in the remainder of the matches in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.
