Who is William ‘Lily’ Whitworth, planning multiple shootup in Colorado schools?

A Colorado Springs young adult is facing attempted murder charges for threatening multiple schools in one of the city’s largest school districts.

The 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said William Whitworth, who prefers to be identified as “Lilly,” was arrested following an investigation into threats against schools in the Colorado Springs 20th Academy District.

On March 31, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office took Whitworth into custody when they discovered the 19-year-old had Timberview High School floor plans and allegedly admitted to wanting to carry out a shooting at the school.

Whitworth’s arrest and alleged plan

According to the affidavit cited by the Colorado Springs Gazette, officers visited Whitworth after receiving a call from the suspect’s sister, who reported that Whitworth was acting out and referencing a school shooting. Although the affidavit identifies Whitworth as male, the sister referred to the suspect as her sister and called her “Lily.”

A spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office confirmed to the Gazette that Whitworth was in the process of transitioning into a female.

According to Fox 21, during the investigation, Whitworth informed the sheriff’s office that the planned school shooting had been in the works for about a month or two, and that he was a third of the way through executing the plan.

Who is William ‘Lily’ Whitworth?

William Whitworth 19-year-old  is a former student of Timberview Middle School and was planning to shoot up Timberview Middle School.

The affidavit also revealed that during the initial encounter with deputies, Whitworth made suicidal statements and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, swaying back and forth while walking down the hallway.

Timberview Middle School was identified as one of the main targets, along with churches. The affidavit further states that Whitworth had developed a manifesto, had drawn floor plans on a dry-erase board, and had a list of names in one of her notebooks.

The affidavit revealed that one of Whitworth’s notebooks contained a list of mass shooters, serial killers, politicians, and entertainers, along with comments on each individual.
