The Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui and four other people for allegedly making indecent remarks against Hindu GODS during a show at capital Indore.

Munawar Faruqui is a comedian from Gujarat. He has been arrested following a complaint. He made objectionable remarks insulting Hindu deities and Home Minister Amit Shah. Police said that he kept a comedy show in Cafe 56 Shop Area in Indore on Friday.

Eklavya Singh said that he had gone to see the show with his friends. The comedian made abusive remarks there. This also led to a dispute there. After this, after the complaint of Eklavya Singh, the police took action.

In-charge of Tukoganj police station Kamlesh Sharma said, 'A case has been filed against Munawar Faruqui. Eklavya Singh Gaur has also given disputed video footage of the comedy show. Now five have been arrested.' The complaint states that Hindu deities and India Offensive language has been used against the Home Minister Amit Shah. The names of four other accused are Edwin Anthony, Prakhar Vyas, Priyam Vyas and Nalin Yadav. All have been arrested under sections 295A and 269 of the IPC.

A video has started trending on Twitter as soon as Faruqui's arrest. In this video Munawar is seen saying vulgar remarks on Lord Rama and mother Sita, saying, “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya O Ram Ji. Ram ji don't give a f .... about drank. Hearing this, Ram Ji says that I myself have not been home for fourteen years. If Sita listens, she will doubt it. Sita is already suspicious of Madhuri. That song is tera karoon gin gin wait. He feels the exile is counting down and stops at 14. "

In April last year, Ramesh Solanki, a Hindutva activist and former member of the Shiv Sena, had filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police against Faruqui for "mocking Sri Ram and Sita Maata."
