He was the son of Prashant Yadav, who was an Indian politician and was elected 7 times MLA in Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh, 3 times Minister in Government of Uttar Pradesh and 2 times Member of Parliament from Jaunpur. Lucky Yadav is standing in the election from Malhani, it is a Constituency of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly Covering the City of Malhani in the Jaunpur District of Uttar Pradesh, India.

He was born on 15th November 1980. His Father's name is Prashant Yadav and his Mother's name is Heeravati Devi. Lucky Yadav completed his graduation in B.A. from Shri Ram College Adampur Nigoh Jaunpur Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur U.P. According to some records he's of age 35. His self profession is basically agriculture and business. He came into elections following his family tradition. His wife name is Pushpa Yadav.

In the year 2005, He was a member of District Panchayat Samiti. Also, in the year 2007 he fought legislative elections from the Mariyaahu region. Currently, his wife is also a member of ward 55 in the district panchayat.

The Samajwadi Party announced the Malhani assembly seat for the leader Lucky Yadav. Moreover, the party has also announced and stitched an alliance with regional parties like Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), Janwadi Socialist Party and Mahan Dal.

In the year 2020, Lucky Yadav had won the seat by defeating Dhananjaya Singh from the Independent with a margin of 5 votes. Malhani Assembly constituency is falling under the Jaunpur Lok Sabha constituency. The Samajwadi Party in the year 2020 retained the Malhani assembly seat by a margin of 4,632 votes.

The bypolls to the seat were necessitated due to the death of sitting party MLA Parasnath Yadav. The bypolls to seven assembly seats in the state were held on November 3, 2020. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Shyam Singh Yadav won from Jaunpur Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with a margin of 80936 votes by defeating Krishna Pratap Singh K.p. from Bharatiya Janata Party.
