Ground Report | New Delhi: What is Caulk; Once again, social media users were left at odds after Wordle's daily Caulk was revealed to be caulking. Just one day after Wordle users reported having two different answers, those who played Wordle 242 took to Twitter to say they didn't know what today's word is.

The game was created by software engineer Josh Wardle in October of last year and was purchased by The New York Times ( NYT ) for an undisclosed seven-figure sum earlier this month.

You have no idea what I'm talking about? The five-letter word “caulk” (meaning “a waterproof filler and sealant, used in construction and repair work,” according to Google dictionary) was “wordle” #242 in Wordle, the popular game web-based word search recently acquired by The New York Times.

Since the beginning of the year, Twitter has basically had a constant trending hashtag where people lament or brag about their performance at Wordle.

Caulk left a lot of people frustrated, ended months-long winning streaks for some, and started a small-scale Twitter war between landlords and renters. (Though give thanks to Crikey's Amber Schultz, who has sealed her renter-of-the-year-award-winning rental shower.)

What is caulk mean?

Caulk is the English name for caulk, a material or type of substance used to fill in spaces around the edge of something like a bath or shower.

Earlier this week, Twitter users complained that Wordle seems to have gotten harder since moving to the NYT platform.

Why is caulk a trend?

The word caulk started trending online as it was revealed as the answer to Wordle's daily riddle on February 16, 2022.

Many disgruntled users on Twitter questioned whether the term building was real. One said, "What kind of a word is caulk?"

Another added: “The NYT can caulk. “What the hell is a caulk? At this point, the New York Times is just making up words.

"Can we give Wordle back to the guy who made it for his girlfriend so she can have fun playing it and not stress over these words?"

Wordle solutions have been known to cause a stir on social media.
