The massive A23a iceberg, the world’s largest, is drifting north from Antarctica toward South Georgia. Scientists warn it could disrupt penguin and seal feeding grounds, while also posing risks to shipping routes if it breaks apart into smaller icebergs.

An ice colossus the size of Cantabria emerged from the Antarctic Peninsula in 2017, arousing the curiosity of scientists who soon learned that they were in front of some of the largest icebergs recorded by their satellites.
