A new study published May 1, 2023, in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that birth rates for bird species have been declining around the world due to climate change.

You have probably noticed when you go for a walk in the winter that everything is much calmer or quieter and this is largely due to the fact that many birds hide underground, migrate or simply change colour to survive the cold temperatures.

Approximately 10,000 species of birds are known on Earth. Slightly less than half are migratory. A total of about 4,000 species of birds migrate back and forth between their breeding and wintering grounds.
