Statehood to J&K will be restored soon: Ashok Koul

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that the Statehood will be given back to Jammu and Kashmir soon, adding that the report about the delimitation process should be submitted at earliest.

Pertinently, BJP observed 72nd Republic Day in Srinagar today where party’s General Secretary (Organization), Ashok Koul hoisted the tri-color.

Koul told media persons here that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have on the floor of the house promised that Statehood to J&K will be given back. “We believe that our leaders will fulfill the promises. We believe that the Statehood will be restored soon,” he said.

He added all the political parties as well as the people have the right to speak about their sentiments and demands & meet any top leader, adding that former minister and Apni Party president Syed Altaf Bukhari too has met the PM to express his views and raise his demands.

Koul also said that the situation has improved and will improve further in J&K.

Asked about the delimitation process, Koul said that the government has already constituted a delimitation commission and State Election Commission (SEC) in this regard. “I believe the work has been started already and they should submit the report in this regard at earliest,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Koul said that India is a Republic country and believes in democracy. “Today, Indians across the globe especially in India are celebrating the day. On this occasion, I congratulate people especially Kashmiris on this day and pray for the prosperity and peace for Kashmir,” he said, KNO reported.

He said the deadly pandemic seems at the verge of culmination as less than 100 cases are now surfacing in J&K. “I wish the peace will once again return Kashmir,” he said.
