The AIIMS resident physician association has decided to withdraw from all non-emergency work starting Tuesday if the government fails to take action against the violence that physicians face during their protest against delays in NEET-PG counseling.

At Safdarjung Hospital, chaos ensued when OPD counters were closed as doctors protested the action taken by Delhi police on Monday night. The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) also called on its resident medical association to withdraw from all work, including emergency services.

The protest by a large number of Delhi-based doctors over the delay in NEET-PG 2021 counseling took a dramatic turn as doctors and police personnel clashed on the streets, with both sides claiming that several people were injured. in the ensuing melee.

However, the police denied the allegations of lay abuse or use of abusive language on their part and said 12 protesters were later detained and released.

Police said seven police officers were injured in the march near ITO and consequently registered an FIR under section 188 and other sections for causing obstruction of police personnel duty and damaging public property.

In a later official statement, Additional (Central) Police Deputy Commissioner Rohit Meena said that on Monday, a group of resident doctors "without any authorized permission" blocked the BSZ Marg, the main road between ITO and the Delhi Gate. , and jammed traffic for more than six hours. "
