On September 14, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹50,700 crore in Madhya Pradesh. The projects consist of a petrochemical complex at the Bina Refinery and ten new industrial projects across the state. The state expects that the new projects will significantly stimulate industrial development.
Modi also laid the foundation stone for critical care blocks in nine districts of Chhattisgarh. One lakh sickle cell counselling cards were also distributed by him.
Various sectors like textiles, packaging, and pharma among others will benefit from the state-of-the-art Bina refinery, which developers estimate will cost about ₹49,000 crore and will produce approximately 1,200 KTPA (Kilo-Tonnes Per Annum) of ethylene and propylene, vital components.
This will reduce the country’s import dependence and be a step towards fulfilling the prime minister’s vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
PM Modi said, "I want to thank Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his government for giving me the opportunity to come and meet the people of the state. Today, we will lay the foundation stone of projects worth more than Rs. 50,000 crores. Even the budget for several states in our country is not ₹50,000 crores."
The new projects in Madhya Pradesh will provide a major stimulus to industrial development in the state and create employment opportunities. The petrochemical complex alone expects to create thousands of jobs.
The projects also include power and renewable energy manufacturing zones in Narmadapuram district, two IT parks in Indore, a mega industrial park in Ratlam, and six new industrial areas across Madhya Pradesh.
The official said the new projects in Madhya Pradesh will provide a major stimulus to industrial development in the state. The state government has been working towards making Madhya Pradesh an attractive destination for investment by improving infrastructure and creating an enabling environment for businesses.
