Minor girl raped, killed
Police said that the girl is the daughter of a migrant labourer from Bihar and had gone missing from outside her house on Thursday, later her body was found near a factory on Sunday. This place is one kilometer away from the girl's house.
Inspector-General of Police, Gandhinagar range, Abhay Chudasama said that the accused man has a "perverted mindset", possibly due to his adult film addiction. He has been identified as Vijay Thakor, who is married and has a daughter. The investigation is on in the matter.

Mr. Chudasama said that after scanning the CCTV footage and collecting information from the local people, the police traced Thakor, a daily wage labourer from Vansjada village in Kalol taluka.
"He has confessed to raping a five-year-old girl and a three-year-old girl," the Inspector General said. They said Thakor killed the three-year-old girl because she was screaming a lot and then raped her and then dumped her body in the culvert. He said that the police have recovered the body.
The matter came to notice when the mother of a five-year-old girl informed the police about her daughter's abduction earlier this month in Santej industrial area. She said that a man picked up her daughter from the locality and left her at the same place after a while.

A few days after this complaint, another person reached the police about the kidnapping of a three-year-old local girl. His body was dumped in the drain, which has been recovered by the police. Thakor allegedly kidnapped her from her house when everyone was sleeping at night. He confessed to killing the minor as she was making a lot of noise. After ending her life, he raped her and threw her body.
Police said that during interrogation, Thakor further confessed to kidnapping and raping another seven-year-old girl from the area.
As per the latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the incidents of child rape in Gujarat were recorded in 1871 cases in 2020. This number was several points higher than the 1539 cases of child rape in 2019 under the protection of children. Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

According to NCRB data for the year, of the total cases of crimes against women in 2020, there were 28,046 incidents of rape involving 28,153 victims, which saw the outbreak of COVID-19 and the pandemic-induced lockdown. Of the total victims, 25,498 were adults, while 2,655 were under the age of 18.
The number of rape cases as defined in Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code stood at 32,033 in 2019, 33,356 in 2018, and 32,559 in 2017. As per the NCRB data for the respective years, the figure for 2016 was 38,947.
