In a shocking incident, a man died after an iron bar was driven through the window of a moving train, piercing his neck. The incident took place at 8:45 a.m. at Fridayat, a place between Danwar and Somna railway stations in the Prayagraj division, Uttar Pradesh. The train was going from Delhi to Kanpur. Indian Railways said the GRP and RPF are looking into the matter.

The man was identified as Hrishekesh Dubey. The sources said that some work was being carried out on the tracks when the incident occurred. However, so far no confirmation has been received from the Railways.

Following the accident, the train stopped at Aligarh station at around 9.23 a.m. where the body of the deceased was handed over to Aligarh GRP and an investigation was ordered.

Passengers seated on the train said a rod passed through the carriage window and struck the neck of a young man sitting in the window seat.

According to railway officials, on Friday morning, as the Nilanchal Express was passing Davar and Somna stations in Prayagraj division, an iron bar came from outside into the general carriage and struck a traveller, Harikesh Kumar Dubey, who died on the spot.

Meanwhile, RPF Deputy Security Commissioner Surendra Pratap Singh said: "There could have been more deaths… It was a lucky escape for other passengers. The passenger's body was sent for autopsy."

GRP Station (Aligarh Junction) Officer Subodh Yadav added: "On the basis of the complaint received from the family of the dead passenger, an FIR was registered against unknown railway workers for negligence. The case was registered in the IPC section 304-A (causing wrongful death). Primary investigation revealed that road-related work was performed in the area where the incident occurred."

The sources said that some work was being carried out on the tracks when the incident occurred. However, so far no confirmation has been received from the Railways. The official said the body was turned over to the GRP and an investigation was launched.
