Madhya Pradesh is bracing for intense heat, with Tikamgarh and Datia expected to be the hottest regions in the coming five days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast maximum temperatures of up to 43°C in both districts, placing them at the top of Bundelkhand’s heat chart.
Despite the looming heat, several districts may also experience rain and thunderstorms. According to IMD, rain is likely in Sagar and Panna, bringing temporary relief. The rest of the state, however, will continue to experience dry and clear weather, particularly in Datia, Niwari, Morena, Tikamgarh, and Chhatarpur.
Nautapa, the traditional nine-day period marked by high heat, is set to begin from tomorrow. IMD has warned that bad weather, including possible storms, will persist till 27 May. In anticipation, alerts have been issued to 47 districts across the state.
In Chhatarpur, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 38°C from tomorrow, with a gradual increase of one degree every five days. The minimum temperature will also rise by a degree during this time.
Tikamgarh will bear the brunt of the heat. While the minimum temperature will climb to 25°C, the maximum will reach a scorching 43°C by the fifth day, making it one of the hottest places in Madhya Pradesh this week.
In Panna, the temperature rise will be more moderate due to the possibility of rain. The maximum temperature will hover around 41°C, while the minimum is expected to remain near 29°C.
Similar conditions are expected in Sagar, where rain may provide some relief. Still, the district will experience a maximum temperature of around 41°C and a minimum of 27°C.
Damoh is likely to witness significant temperature fluctuations. The minimum will vary from 24°C to 29°C, while the maximum may jump from 34°C to 41°C over five days.
In Niwari, the heat will also intensify. The district’s minimum temperature is forecast to reach 31°C, higher than most other areas, with the maximum staying close to 41°C.
Datia, alongside Tikamgarh, will see the highest temperatures in the region. While the maximum will consistently stay near 40°C for the next few days, it will spike to 43°C on the fifth day. The minimum temperature will remain around 28°C.
In recent days, Khajuraho, Naugaon, and Tikamgarh have already touched the 41°C mark, leading to discomfort in the region. With Nautapa beginning and heatwave conditions building, Tikamgarh and Datia are expected to remain the hottest districts in the coming week.
