Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the Sant Samaj that in view of the outbreak of Corona epidemic, the Kumbh Mela should now be kept symbolic.
They have given information about it by tweeting. He has written that “I spoke to the Peetadheeshwar Acharya Mahamandalleshwar Swami Awadheshanand Giri of Juna Arena today on the phone. I prayed to him that two royal baths have taken place and now Kumbh should be kept symbolic due to the crisis of Corona. This will give strength to the fight against this crisis.”
PM Modi has thanked the Sant Samaj for his support to the administration.
Swami Awadheshanand Giri has also responded to PM Modi’s tweet on Twitter.
He wrote, “We honor the call of Honorable Prime Minister! Protecting life is a great virtue. My Dharma Parayana urges the public not to come for bath in large numbers and discharge the rules, given the circumstances of covid. ”
For the last one week, there is a lot of discussion about the millions of people who have gathered in Kumbh. Many people have been criticizing this saying that in this situation of pandemic, gathering of such a crowd can prove to be very fatal.
According to Haridwar Chief Medical Officer Dr SK Jha, between April 10-14, 1,664 covid positive cases were found in the Kumbh Mela area, of which 35 are sadhus.
According to Dr. Jha, the positivity rate in the fair area is 0.29 percent.
