Pradhyuman Singh Tomar vs Sunil Sharma: Following the announcement of elections in Madhya Pradesh, both the ruling BJP and opposing Congress parties have initiated their campaigns. The focus is intently set on the Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior region, consisting of eight assembly seats which fall under the Gwalior Lok Sabha constituency. Of these eight seats, six belong to the Gwalior district and the remaining two are associated with Shivpuri.

In the previous assembly elections, the BJP regrettably suffered defeat in seven of these seats, managing to secure victory in only one. During the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress managed to seize power, with the Gwalior region playing a critical role in this success. In 2020, 25 MLAs resigned from Congress to join BJP. Some of them won their by-polls as a BJP candidate also. One such is Pradhyuman Singh Tomar, the current Energy Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Pradhyuman Singh Tomar has been in the fray since Gwalior 15

Pradhyuman Singh Tomar, the Energy Minister of Madhya Pradesh, is standing as a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the Gwalior (Gwalior 15) district seat. A prominent figure in the Scindia camp, Tomar has also served as a minister in the 2018 Congress government. However, following Jyotiraditya Scindia's party switch in 2020, Tomar transitioned to the BJP. After resigning from his posts as MLA and minister, Tomar secured victory in the subsequent by-elections with a substantial margin of 33,000 votes.

Tomar remains in discussion

Tomar is a leader who is constantly in the news in the media. He is currently in the news due to his unique way of campaigning. Tomar is roaming door to door in his area and asking people for ₹ 1. According to media reports, he has said during the campaign that he will definitely pay the interest of one rupee. Apart from this, he is eating food only after demanding it from people's homes. But even before this, he has been in the news many times.

During a cabinet meeting, a proposition to close a liquor shop in Gwalior was set forward. The proposal was given immediate approval without any preliminary discussion. In a gesture of gratitude, Tomar humbly prostrated before the Chief Minister. Furthermore, in the prior year, Tomar had staged a barefoot protest against the poor road conditions in his area. After the repair of these roads, Jyotiraditya Scindia symbolically bestowed him with a pair of slippers.

Statistics and environment in favour of Tomar

The Gwalior Assembly is often perceived to be under the sway of the Sangh. Despite the Congress clinching a victory in the 2018 elections, it's worth noting that BJP has won six times, Congress five times, Janata Party once, and Hindu Mahasabha once in this Legislative Assembly's history. Pradhyaman, having won the last two assembly elections, appears to be a strong contender. In an attempt to halt his winning streak, the Congress has strategically contested Sunil Sharma.

If we talk about this assembly seat, electricity is going to be the main issue. Apart from this, issues like clean water and employment will also be effective.

Leader of Scindia camp, candidate from Congress

Sunil Sharma, a seasoned politician associated with the Congress party, is set to compete in his second election in this district. Despite his loss in the previous by-elections for the same seat, his close ties to Scindia were noteworthy. However, he reaffirmed his allegiance to Congress in 2020 and chose to run against Tomar. He is recognized as a grassroots leader, and he has consistently raising issues like, water supplies, road infrastructure, and employment opportunities.
