Covid-19: 70,000 infected, less than 1 million active cases found in India

Talking about the world's largest vaccination campaign going on in the country, so far 25,48,49,301 doses of the vaccine have been administered

Ground Report | New Delhi: In the last 24 hours in India, 70,421 new cases of infection with the Covid-19 virus were reported and 3,921 patients died. With this, the total number of infected people in the country has gone up to 2,95,10,410. Out of these, 3,74,305 people have lost their lives. The number of active cases has come down to 9,73,158. The country is witnessing a decline in Covid-19 cases and for the seventh consecutive day, the daily cases have been less than one lakh.

If we look at the most affected states, so far 59,08,992 people have been found infected in Maharashtra and 1,11,104 people have died. In Karnataka, the second most affected state, 27,65,134 people have been found infected so far and 32,913 have died. Similarly, Kerala with 27,28,239 cases and 11,181 deaths and Tamil Nadu with 23,53,721 cases and 29,547 deaths are the next two worst-affected states.

Talking about new cases, 10,442 people were found infected in Maharashtra on the last day, while 483 patients died. The situation seems to be under control due to the decrease in the pace of infection in the state. Similarly, in Karnataka, 7,810 people were found infected and 125 patients died, while in Kerala 11,584 cases were reported and 206 deaths occurred. Tamil Nadu reported 14,061 new cases and 267 deaths.

According to Johns Hopkins University, so far around 17.59 crore, people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide, while 38 lakh people have died. In the most affected America, 33.5 million people have been infected and about 6 lakh people have died. India is the second most affected country after America. At the same time, in Brazil, the third most affected country, out of 1.74 crores infected, about 4.87 lakh patients have died.
