All above 18 years eligible for COVID-19 vaccination from May 1

In an important decision, the Government of India has announced to give the COVID-19 vaccine to all people above the age of 18 years.

This decision will be applicable from May 1. From May 1, the corona vaccination campaign will enter its third phase, in which vaccination will be accelerated and its scope is being expanded.

Till now, only people over the age of 45 years were allowed to be vaccinated.

The Prime Minister said that his government had been working for more than a year to provide vaccines to more and more Indians in the shortest possible time.

The Prime Minister said that India is applying Corona vaccine to people at a record speed faster than other countries in the world and this campaign will be continued even faster.

The first phase of the covid vaccination campaign in India started on 16 January this year, in which vaccines were initially given to health workers and front line workers.

The second phase of vaccination began on March 1, 2021, in which vaccines were provided for people above 45 years of age.

In order to increase the availability of the corana vaccine, the government approved two vaccines of Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India, and after this the foreign-made Sputnik vaccine was also approved for emergency use. Sputnik can now be manufactured in India.

In the third phase, under the National Vaccine Policy, there has been talk about the price of the vaccine and the relaxation to increase its scope.

The third phase of corona vaccination in India will formally begin from May 1.

The companies making the vaccine will make public the price of 50 percent quota placed for supply to the open market and state governments before May 1.

On the basis of this price, the state governments, private hospitals, industrial establishments, etc., will be able to decide the purchase of the vaccine from the pharmaceutical companies.
