Who was Sukhdool Singh? Khalistani terrorist killed in Canada

A day after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) listed him as one of the 43 wanted gangsters, unknown gunmen in Canada's Winnepeg killed gangster Sukhdool Singh, also known as Sukha Duneke, who was the 33rd on the list. Who was Sukhdool Singh?

Sukha Duneke, originally from Moga in Punjab, closely associated with the designated terrorist Arsh Dalla, a key figure in the Khalistan Tiger Force, had been attempting to reestablish the outfit following the demise of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who rival factions killed earlier this year in June.

Reportedly, Duneke fled to Canada from India using forged documents in 2017 and has been evading law enforcement authorities since. Reports state that he actively aided, funded, and strengthened the Davinder Bambiha gang, which operated in various regions of India, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan.

Duneke had some affiliations with pro-Khalistan outfits, but he primarily revolved his criminal activities around extortion and contract killings, commonly referred to as 'supari' killings. His associates were orchestrating a range of crimes in Punjab and neighboring states on his behalf, earning him a spot on the most-wanted list of criminals in the region.

Duneke fled to Canada from India on forged documents in 2017 and authorities have registered seven criminal cases against him, according to information.

Sukhdool Singh's criminal history

One significant incident involving Duneke occurred on March 14 of the previous year when he allegedly plotted to assassinate kabaddi player Sandeep Singh Nangal during a kabaddi match in Mallian village, Jalandhar.

Duneke had amassed an extensive criminal record, with authorities registering over 20 cases against him, including charges of murder and other serious offenses in Punjab and neighboring states.

The circumstances surrounding Duneke's death in Winnipeg are presently under investigation, with Canadian authorities collaborating with their Indian counterparts to gather further information about the incident.

As investigations progress, more details are anticipated regarding the events leading to Sukha Duneke's demise and any potential links to his criminal activities in India.
