Who is Parag Agarwal?

Parag Agrawal joined Twitter in 2011 and has served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) since 2017. As Twitter's Chief Technology Officer, Parag Agrawal was responsible for the Technical Strategy, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Consumer, Revenue, and Science teams.

After completing his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Agrawal completed his Ph.D. in philosophy, with a specialization in computer science, according to his Linkedin profile.

Parag Agrawal has been on Twitter for just over a decade and joined as a software engineer. Before taking over as CEO, he was the chief technology officer for a social media firm worth more than $ 37 billion. At Twitter, Agrawal was responsible for the company's technical strategy and oversaw machine learning and artificial intelligence across the consumer, revenue, and science teams.

On Twitter, Agrawal thanked Dorsey for his continued mentorship and friendship. In addition, he thanked the entire team for her trust and support.

Jack Dorsey resigned as CEO of Twitter, the social network he co-founded nearly 16 years ago. On Monday, the social network said that chief technology officer Parag Agrawal will take over as chief executive officer with immediate effect.

"I decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to leave its founders behind," Dorsey, who is also the CEO of the payments company Square, said in a statement. "My confidence in Parag as CEO of Twitter runs deep."

Dorsey was CEO of the social network since 2015 when he took office after the resignation of Dick Costolo. He also briefly served as Twitter's first CEO in 2007 but was fired 16 months later.
