Who is Kalicharan Maharaj, why he was arrested?

Ground Report | New Delhi: Kalicharan Maharaj, who abused Mahatma Gandhi in the Dharma Sansad of Raipur, was arrested by the Raipur Police in the early hours of today. Kalicharan has been arrested from Madhya Pradesh.

According to Raipur SP Prashant Agarwal, “Kalicharan was arrested from a person’s house near Bageshwar Dham at 4 am. He had also booked a lodge nearby.”

After a preliminary investigation, the police have also added sedition sections against Kalicharan Maharaj. Prashant Agarwal, the police team has left for Raipur with Kalicharan. He will be produced in the local court of Raipur.

According to the police, three teams were sent to different states for the arrest of Kalicharan Maharaj. A video of Raipur ‘Dharma Sansad’ went viral in which Kalicharan Maharaj of Akola was seen abusing Mahatma Gandhi on the stage. It is seen in the video that Kalicharan Maharaj is using abusive words for Mahatma Gandhi and is praising Nathuram Godse, who killed him.

The police had registered an FIR against Kalicharan on the complaint of Raipur Municipal Corporation Speaker and Congress leader Pramod Dubey, after which this arrest has taken place.

In this matter, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had said that as many strong steps can be taken as can be taken.

Talking to news agency ANI, he had said, “Provocative and violent things are not tolerated here. Speaking such things about the Father of the Nation definitely shows what is his mental state. The more condemned the more It is less, whatever stringent steps can be taken, they will be taken.”

Who is Kalicharan Maharaj

Kalicharan Maharaj first came on the scene when his hymn about Shiv Tandav went viral on social media. His real name is Abhijit Sarag. He is originally from the Akola district of Maharashtra and lives in the Bhavsar Panchbangla area of Shivaji Nagar. According to local journalist Umesh Akela, his childhood has been spent in Akola herself.

Reliable and absolutely accurate information on the education of Kalicharan Maharaj has not been found, but local people say that he has studied up to the eighth level. Local people also said that Kalicharan Maharaj has been avoiding giving information about him and his family.

However, in one of his interviews, he said, “I never liked going to school. I was not interested in my studies. That is why everyone used to listen to me. I became interested in religion and turned to spirituality.”
