The Delhi Police has registered an FIR on the basis of a video viral on social media and arrested the man who was beating the other person and was forcibly raising anti-Pakistan slogan.
It is seen in the viral video that the accused man is beating the victim with a rope. At the same time, it is asking to raise slogans related to Pakistan and Hindustan. In the video, the victim is also raising slogans.
According to the India Today report, the police have said that this case has no relation to riots or any other case. It is a case of theft and physical assault. Regarding the matter, the poet and Congress leader Imran Pratapgarhi has said that on the other hand, the Prime Minister is writing a love letter to Pakistan and this spectacle is going on in Delhi.
When the police gathered information about the viral video on social media, it was found that the name of the accused Ajay Goswami, who had been beaten up, also came in the Delhi riots.
After the video of the beating went viral, a case has been registered against the accused Ajay Goswami under various sections including 323 (intentionally voluntarily injuring someone), 341 of IPC at Khajuri Khas police station in Delhi.
Delhi Police is claiming that the accused will be arrested soon. DCP North East Delhi has tweeted that the accused has been identified and appropriate legal action is being taken.
In the video, purportedly shot on Tuesday, the attacker is seen holding the collar of the victim, who is lying on the floor and chanting “Pakistan murdabad” and “Hindustan zindabad”.
Another person, not seen in the video, tells the victim to raise his voice even as the victim requests the attacker to stop beating him. However, the assailant pays no heed to the request, picks him up and throws him on the ground. The authenticity of the video could not be independently verified.
He pins him down to the ground and tells him -“Zor se bol (say loudly). Hindustan Zindabad (Long live India). Pakistan Murdabad.” As the man being beaten up holds Goswami’s feet, he shouts angrily: “Leave my feet”. Voices of other men, probably recording the video in northeast Delhi’s Khajuri Khas locality, can be heard as they curse this man being roughed up. They tell him to chant: “Asaduddin Owaisi Murdabad“. Mr Owaisi is a Lok Sabha MP and president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
In a tweet, Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Sanjay Kumar Sain: “A video of Khajoori Khas incident is in circulation on social media. Cognizance of the incident has been taken and a criminal case has been registered. The accused has been arrested and investigation of the case is in progress. @CPDelhi @cp_delhi (sic).
