As the co-founder of Greenmyna, an events company that promotes sustainable functions, Nupur helped plan their eco-friendly nuptials.

The couple has also launched a consultancy service called "Greenmyna" to encourage greener weddings and reduce carbon emissions caused by these types of events.

Nupur expressed their desire for a sustainable lifestyle, citing the debris they had collected during beach cleanups. The couple met during a cleanup campaign in Mumbai when Ashwin, from Maharashtra, and Nupur, from Kolkata, crossed paths.

What is Greenmyna

Greenmyna is a Mumbai-based eco-friendly event planning company that specializes in organizing sustainable weddings and other events. Founded by Nupur Agarwal and Ashwin Malwade, the company was born from their own experience of planning and hosting their green wedding in 2019.

The couple realized that there was a growing demand for sustainable event planning and decided to use their experience to offer their services to others who shared their values.

Greenmyna aims to reduce the carbon footprint of events by offering services that focus on eco-friendly practices, such as using locally sourced and recycled materials, minimizing waste, and reducing energy consumption.

The company offers a variety of services, including venue selection, catering, décor, and logistics, all with a focus on sustainability. They work closely with clients to understand their preferences and needs while ensuring that the event is environmentally friendly.

Since its launch, Greenmyna has garnered a lot of attention and has been recognized for its efforts to promote sustainable event planning in India. They have worked with a wide range of clients, including individuals, corporations, and NGOs, to plan and execute successful events while minimizing their environmental impact.

Self-Planning Eco-Friendly Nuptials

Despite contacting numerous wedding planners, they were unable to find one that could accommodate their eco-friendly needs. As a result, the couple decided to plan their eco-friendly nuptials themselves.

The bride and groom wore sustainable clothing made from organic cotton, and Nupur's lehenga was made from her mother's saree. The groom's baraat arrived in an electric car, and to amplify the green message, the guests were given return gifts wrapped in locally sourced paper bags.

Eco-friendly wedding leads to event planning business

Nupur and Ashwin planned their wedding with a range of eco-friendly practices, including serving fresh juices and mocktails, using regional flowers, and avoiding plastics.

Their efforts led to the launch of their event-planning business, Greenmyna, which helps others plan sustainable and environmentally friendly events.

The couple has already made a significant impact, having planted over 200 trees, composted 8,800 kg of waste, and offset 2,450 kg of carbon emissions through their work.
