What Virat Kohli is getting trolled despite smashing a ton?

The memorable Sunday night's Dharamshala match from the World Cup 2023. This night India and New Zealand locked horns. This match shall be imprinted in our minds not only for India's remarkable fifth consecutive win, propelling them to lead the points table. But, also for Virat Kohli’s standout performance. Virat 'King' Kohli, with a sterling knock of 95 runs from mere 104 balls, punctuated by 8 boundaries and 2 sixes, played a crucial role in securing India's victory against New Zealand. India defeated New Zealand in an ICC tournament for the first time in 20 years. However, he narrowly missed achieving his 49th century.

Virat Kohli was sent to the pavilion by Matt Henry in the fourth delivery of the 48th over at 95 runs when India needed only 5 runs to win. If Virat had scored a century against Kiwis on 23rd oct, he would have equalled the great Sachin Tendulkar (49 centuries) record. But one bad shot broke the hearts of millions of Indians.

Meanwhile, Netizens trolled Virat Kohli claiming that he was selfish for a century and playing for his personal milestone leading to trend #Chokli. Here is how X (Formerly Twitter) user reacts.

A user wrote,

"When the whole team doesn't matter for you because of personal milestones."

While another user wrote,

"Never seen a more selfish player than Chokli."

It is worth mentioning that in the recent match against Bangladesh in Pune, Virat Kohli seized the opportunity to score his 48th ODI century, with ample support from Ravindra Jadeja. Foregoing single runs at pivotal moments, Jadeja strategically assisted Kohli in reaching this significant milestone. Subsequently, Jadeja clarified that abstaining from scoring and leaving runs for Kohli, specifically to enable his century, was a deliberate strategy on his part.

Not less than a century

The relentlessly adroit cricket master, Virat Kohli, is leagues beyond the fleeting allure of personal milestones and records. His impressive display of skill and fortitude in crafting the Indian innings amidst the clash against New Zealand was nothing short of commendable. Sharply navigating the tumultuous tide of continuous wicket losses, he took reins of the game and engineered a game-changing partnership with Jadeja. Kohli, rightly dubbed King Kohli, unquestionably deserved the honor of a century.

His gritty innings of 95 runs, a stepping stone away from a century, was in every way equally deserving. The tenacity and unyielding spirit he showcased against New Zealand solidified his earning of a respectable three-figure mark.
