Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport has claimed the top spot in the latest round of the Airport Authority of India’s Customer Satisfaction Survey. In the survey conducted from January to June 2025, the airport scored a perfect 5 out of 5, beating 60 other airports across the country.
Why Raja Bhoj Airport Ranked Number 1?
This marks a big jump from the last survey, held from July to December 2024, when Raja Bhoj Airport ranked 15th. Airport Director Ramji Awasthi said the improvement came from consistent upgrades in services.
“Passengers appreciated our services. That’s why we’re back at number one after 2023,” Raja Bhoj Airport Director Ramji Awasthi said.
The survey looked at 33 different aspects of airport service, including parking, ground transport, baggage carts, and the behaviour of staff. Bhopal airport improved in nearly every area.
Other airports that scored a perfect 5.00 include Udaipur and Khajuraho. Gaya secured second place, while Jammu and Vijayawada tied for third.
“This achievement is the result of our entire team's commitment, hard work and our continuous efforts to provide the best facilities to passengers,” said Santosh Singh, Director of Khajuraho Airport.
“We express our sincere gratitude to all our staff, partner agencies, and travellers, whose support helped us achieve the number one ranking. We will continue to strive to stay one step ahead of passenger expectations in the future as well,” Singh added.

What Is Customer Satisfaction Survey?
The AAI Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS) is a passenger feedback survey conducted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It helps evaluate how satisfied travellers are with the services provided at AAI-operated airports across the country.
The survey covers over 30 key aspects of the airport experience. These include cleanliness, security checks, staff behaviour, the check-in and boarding process, parking, baggage handling, and access to public transport. It also looks at the availability and quality of food, shopping options, internet speed, seating arrangements, and washroom conditions. Passengers also rate how clear and useful the information displays are inside the airport.
AAI conducts this survey twice a year at more than 60 airports. Passengers are asked to provide feedback at the end of their journey. Each airport is rated on a 5-point scale, with 5.00 being the highest. The average scores are then used to rank the airports based on overall customer satisfaction.
Most praised the airport staff for being professional and helpful. Security checks were described as smooth. The terminal and washrooms were found clean. Food quality was good and affordable. Free internet and clear information displays added to the overall experience.
Bhopal’s airport has now topped this national survey multiple times. For locals and travellers alike, that’s a point of pride and a sign the airport continues to deliver what passengers need.
